The Water and Sewer Company of Sancti Spíritus reported on Wednesday that a significant breakdown in the 900-millimeter (mm) pipeline left the homonymous municipality and Cabaiguán without potable water service since Tuesday afternoon.

Specialized teams are already working to resolve the issue as soon as possible, according to the details published in the Facebook group "Sancti Spíritus a través del Vitral".

According to the brief information, the supply is being secured by tankers to vital centers such as hospitals, maternal nursing homes, among other essential services.

The problems with the supply of the vital liquid are recurrent. A few days ago, it was reported that the Quintero System, responsible for supplying more than 80 percent of the city of Santiago de Cuba, is currently facing a severe deficit in water intake.

The Aguas Santiago Aqueduct and Sewerage Company reported that the situation is due to two significant leaks located in one of the main external conduits of 1,000 mm.

Likewise, journalist Maya Quiroga reported a large drainage issue at the intersection of Línea and 10 streets, in Vedado, Havana, amid the severe supply crisis affecting the capital.

"The water continues to spring from the fountains on Línea and 10 street," he expressed, in a complaint that joined those of other residents in the mentioned neighborhood since September.
