It will be organized based on resource availability, which shows that neither initiative will meet the needs of the population.

The government of Santiago de Cuba, a province still without connection to the National Electric System, has implemented measures such as the sale of charcoal and affordable meals to support the population in light of the approaching hurricane Oscar.

Yaneydis Hechavarría, President of the Municipal Assembly of People's Power in Santiago de Cuba, announced on Facebook a series of measures that, while necessary, highlight the precarious situation the province faces in addressing the current crisis.

According to the report, the sale of coal and affordable food will be organized based on resource availability, indicating that both initiatives will not meet the demands of the population.

He pointed out that the distribution of rice has begun to complete the delivery for the month of September to all family units, an effort that comes with considerable delay as there are only 10 days left until the end of November.

The supply of liquefied gas, essential for families amidst an electrical generation crisis, also depends on the ability to ensure lighting at sales points, an effort that falls on the neighbors, who have had to organize themselves to guarantee something so fundamental.

Regarding bread production, it was noted that the government implements half measures, relying on bakeries equipped with generators to at least meet the daily needs.

Hechavarría emphasized the need to maintain discipline, without acknowledging that the failures in the system are the result of a management that has not been able to ensure these services efficiently.

Following the collapse of the National Electric Energy System last Friday, the eastern region faced the most severe situation.

This Sunday, just hours after enthusiastically announcing the activation of Generation Unit No. 3 at the Antonio Maceo Thermoelectric Power Plant, also known as Rente, in Santiago de Cuba, the situation took an unexpected turn.

The power plant, which was in the process of ramping up load for subsequent synchronization, suffered a malfunction that led to a system collapse, resulting in the shutdown of a microsystem that served the provinces of Santiago de Cuba and Guantánamo, leaving them without electricity service.

This Sunday has been an intense and complex day for Cuba. The regime, after claiming it was gradually restoring the power grid, experienced another disconnection in the afternoon following a "trip" at the 10 de Octubre Thermoelectric Power Plant in Nuevitas, Camagüey.

According to a brief statement from the Electric Union of Cuba, following the mentioned “discharge,” the provinces from Ciego de Ávila to Holguín were disconnected, and subsequently, the rest of the country's territories also lost power, as the trucks maintaining connectivity to the western part of the island also went out of service.
