The Cuban YouTuber Alejandro, popularly known on Instagram as Literally Cuban (@literalmente_cubano), shared with his followers a visit to the Hotel Las Tunas.
The establishment belongs to the state hotel chain Isla Azul and is categorized as a three-star hotel. Alejandro went ready to have a good time in Las Tunas; he didn't mind staying in a simple place, but what he discovered in his room was not a matter of economic shortcomings, but of basic hygiene.
The poor management and awful quality of hotel services in Isla Azul is notable. The Cuban documented the lack of cleanliness in various areas of the room, generating a strong reaction on social media.
"This little hotel I'm in is called Hotel Las Tunas, it's supposedly a three-star hotel from the Isla Azul chain, which three stars from Isla Azul would be, in other places, a hotel with no stars," the YouTuber jokes in his video while showing the condition of the room.
Upon entering the room, Alejandro found a small closet that is the only available space to store clothes and toiletries. In the bathroom, there was hot water, and the shower looked clean, but as he moved forward with the camera in hand, the unpleasant discoveries began.
The first thing he encountered in his path was a small stool or bench that, in his words, "is on fire," referring to the stains of grease and other fluids he didn't dare mention, which are visibly apparent on the furniture.
"That's from the people who wipe their hands with this, as if it were a cloth," he commented while avoiding touching the dirty object.
Another criticism from the influencer was regarding the tiny refrigerator in the room. It was, according to him, "sticky." Alejandro emphasizes that "they didn't clean the minibar," and showed how it was full of food crumbs, dust, and dirty water.
The YouTuber went out to enjoy the views from his balcony and found walls with mold, a stained floor, and even a t-shirt left behind by previous guests.
"If they haven't cleaned here, I doubt they clean other areas," commented the YouTuber. Finally, he concludes his tour by showing the front of the hotel, stating that the place "looks like a rural school, a pre-university."
It is one of the well-known Girón constructions, similar to the Hotel Pasacaballos in Cienfuegos, the Hotel Ancón in Trinidad, and others across the country.
His comments and video have generated a wave of criticism on social media, where users debate the quality of tourist services in Cuba and the poor attention frequently given to travelers, both domestic and foreign.
