The host and journalist of América TeVé, Juan Manuel Cao, reprimanded Venezuelan analyst Luis Fernando Atencio during a live broadcast of his program "A Fondo" after Atencio discredited journalist Karines Moncada, a colleague at the station.
At the precise moment when Cao announced a commercial break and the return to the Moncada table, Atencio let out a whistle that caught the attention of those present, and then stated that she "is one of the people who misinforms the most in the media."
Cao intervened immediately, describing the guest's attitude as disrespectful and pointing out that it is inappropriate to criticize a colleague in "the house that hosts you."
"It's not your opinion; it's simply bad manners... I have never seen someone who is a guest in a home disqualify one of the journalists from that home," Cao said, clearly annoyed.
Regarding the whistle, she also mentioned that it seemed sexist, emphasizing the importance of respect in any debate.
"It's a gesture of bad manners... It goes against everything you promote regarding respect for women," he pointed out.
Although the guest tried to justify himself, the debate continued despite the awkward moment.
"That being said, we can perfectly continue the political discussion; I have no problem with that," Cao stated, as he moved forward with the program dedicated to analyzing the electoral predictions in the United States, just a week before the presidential elections.
