Relatives of the 11J protester in Cuba and political prisoner Lisniani Rodríguez Isaac reported abuses against the young woman at the Guamajal women's prison in Villa Clara, according to the news portal Cubanet.
According to the publication, the mother and sister of the prisoner—sentenced to eight years in prison for contempt, disobedience, and assault—reported that the prison authorities have beaten and abused the young woman.
Lisdani Rodríguez Isaac, who is a twin with Lisdiani, stated that the head of the internal body of Villa Clara, Major Alberiche, entered alone, without any female accompaniment, into the cubicle where Lisdiani was lying down. He approached the bed, uncovered her, and then ordered her to stand at attention in front of him.
This, Lisdani recounts, violates the regulations of women's prisons, where no man is allowed to enter the cells without being accompanied by a female officer.
The young woman, who was also sentenced for participating in the 11J protests in Placetas but is currently on leave after giving birth to a daughter, reported that the oppressor threatened her sister with being locked in a punishment cell and then took her to an office where she was beaten.
According to the report, an inmate told the family that Lisdiani was gagged while she was being attacked so that she could not scream, and she was not granted the visit she was entitled to last weekend so that the family could not see the visible bruises left on her body from this assault.
The sisters, known in the campaigns for the release of the prisoners from July 11 in Cuba as "the twins of Placetas," have been victims of systematic abuse in the Guamajal prison. Both are serving an eight-year sentence for their participation in the protests of July 11, 2021 (11J) in Placetas.
