LeBron James, star of the Lakers, reaffirmed his support for current Vice President Kamala Harris in a message to his followers, where he noted that Donald Trump has exacerbated racist rhetoric in the United States.

"When I think about my children and my family, the choice is clear for me. Vote for Kamala Harris!" James wrote on social media.

In this regard, she highlighted the values that Harris embodies on issues such as women's rights and the social inclusion of disadvantaged groups.

This support comes at a time when the countdown to the presidential elections has already begun, where Harris and Trump are vying for the White House.

A video posted by James recalls that the Republican candidate has maintained a racist and anti-immigrant rhetoric that, according to James, has escalated since his previous administration.

In recent days, other figures have noted that the former president's speeches advocate for reversing social achievements like Obamacare and have promoted social division in the United States.

"What are we talking about here?" the basketball player added, questioning the positions he considers backward and harmful to the future of his country.

James also posted excerpts of controversial statements from Trump, including the recent remarks by comedian Tony Hinchcliffe, who referred to Puerto Rico as a "floating garbage island" during a Trump rally in New York.

Although the video has been criticized on social media for the possible editing of some segments out of context, James explained that he aimed to highlight issues of hatred and violence affecting minorities.

For James, Harris's selection represents an opportunity to secure a better future. "With a daughter, a wife, a mother... I feel that backing is the right thing to do," he stated after the game in which the Lakers defeated the Raptors 131-125 in Toronto.

As election day approaches, LeBron James has emerged as an important symbol of support for Harris, particularly on issues such as civil rights and social support programs.

Trump, for his part, has attempted to backtrack on statements about eliminating Obamacare, which benefits more than 20 million people in the country: "I have never thought about doing that," he said on Thursday.
