This Tuesday, the Cuban Aviation Corporation announced that, due to the weather conditions caused by Hurricane Rafael, operations at several airports in the country have been suspended.

The measure included the airports of Girona, Cayo Largo del Sur, Havana, and Varadero, starting from midnight on Tuesday, November 5, until noon on Thursday, November 7, noted Transport Minister Eduardo Rodríguez Dávila on Facebook.

Cuban Television broadcast updated information on the progress of the dangerous Hurricane Rafael, which has reached category 3 on the Saffir-Simpson scale and is about to make landfall in the western part of Cuba.

The midday broadcast of the national news reported on the evolution and path of the hurricane, featuring the renowned Cuban meteorologist José Rubiera, who warned about the main dangers posed by the hurricane.

"There will be heavy, intense rains, and the hurricane is moving northwest towards Pinar del Río," said Dr. Rubiera during a link with the news, shortly before the hurricane reached category 3.
