A resident of Centro Habana requested the government to promptly remove the garbage overflow in her community.

The woman left her message, with powerful images, in an official publication from the Government of Havana. She expressed her frustration and fear of contracting diseases such as dengue again, due to the unsanitary conditions in which she lives with her 86-year-old mother and her daughter.

This family faces a source of infection in front of their home that endangers their health and that of the entire community.

"I have been desperately requesting through all possible channels for the large dump of solid waste at the corner of Oquendo and Salud, Centro Habana, to be cleared. There is no one providing a response or solution to the report," she commented, imploring that some organization or entity send garbage collection trucks.

She and her daughter have suffered from illnesses such as dengue and oropouche fever on other occasions. Her daughter even had to be hospitalized due to complications from these diseases.

The conditions in her home have become unacceptable: "The flies inside my house do not let us live. Any moment, the worms start crawling up the sidewalk, as has happened on other occasions," she stated.

The trash problem is growing in Havana.

The garbage crisis in Havana worsened after the hurricane, but officials have not clarified what the plan will be for waste collection, avoiding the topic in their statements about health measures in the capital.

The unsanitary conditions following Hurricane Rafael pose a real risk to families. People fear that after the rains, disease outbreaks may emerge amidst this urban hygiene crisis.

The images shared by the woman show the accumulation of garbage in a densely populated area, where the stench and flies have become a part of everyday life for the residents.

His desperate plea underscores the urgency for a government response, as it is "impossible to live in filth" in Havana.
