Through social media, a group of residents from Santiago made a beautiful gesture of solidarity this Monday by coming together to assist a child in need of shoes.

On the Facebook group "Bazar Santiago de Cuba," user Isis Lescay shared the heartfelt moment when the child received two pairs of shoes.

Lescay emphasized in her post that two individuals assisted the child and that she personally delivered the shoes to ensure transparency in the act of kindness. "God multiplies good deeds. Blessings to all," she added.

The internet user shared a message from one of the donors, who offered valuable advice to the child: “Don’t despair. Take life easy, don’t get involved in crime, and always stay on the right path; life will reward you.”

The donor also expressed their desire to continue helping, assuring that they would calmly busca through their belongings to see if they could contribute anything else, such as clothing and other necessary items, and added, "Tell them to enjoy it."

In a previous post, the user had sought help for the child, appealing to the community's solidarity: “This child needs assistance; he has no shoes or enough clothing. Collaboration is needed to help him,” she wrote, also indicating that he wears size #41.

Additionally, Lescay invited anyone who wished to obtain more details about the child to contact her via private message or at the number +5351805902.

The crisis in Cuba leaves behind heart-wrenching images, such as that of children without clothing or shoes, but it also inspires touching scenes of solidarity.

In October, a young man from Santiago, who uses his income to care for his ill parents, requested help on social media to get a pair of shoes, and his plea received solidary support from the community.

Rosa Bella explained in the Facebook group “Bazar Santiago de Cuba” that the young man to whom she donated several pairs of shoes does not suffer from any psychiatric condition or illness; rather, he works honestly and dedicates his salary to taking care of his mother and his father, who is ill.

In July, the Cuban Observatory of Human Rights presented the VII Report on the State of Social Rights in Cuba 2024, highlighting revealing findings about the reality in Cuba.

The non-governmental organization emphasized in the document that "89% of Cuban families experience extreme poverty," one percentage point more than last year and 13% more than in 2022.

One of the most significant pieces of information highlights that "7 out of 10 Cubans have stopped having breakfast, lunch, or dinner, due to a lack of money or food shortages."
