The United States Embassy in Cuba announced that it will reschedule appointments for all visa services, without providing a reason.
According to the message shared on their Twitter account, routine services for immigrant and non-immigrant visas (including interviews and document reviews) for this month will be rescheduled.
The diplomatic mission will be in touch with the applicants soon.
"We appreciate your patience as we reschedule the services. There is no need to contact the U.S. Embassy; information about the rescheduled appointments will be provided directly to the applicants," she specified.
The notice specifically addressed applicants whose visa status in the CEAC (Consular Electronic Application Center) indicates "ISSUED." These individuals may come to the Embassy to collect their visa on Wednesday, November 13, or Thursday, November 14, always at 10:00 AM.
"The office will be closed on November 11th for Veterans Day," the note adds.
Last week, the Embassy announced that it would only provide emergency services to U.S. citizens from November 12 to 15, "due to the current instability of the national electric grid and recovery efforts following Hurricane Rafael," and that there would also be no routine services, visas, or other appointments, which will be automatically rescheduled.
This Tuesday, Cuba's Electric Union announced blackouts due to a generation capacity deficit exceeding 1,100 MW.
In addition to the severe damage caused by Hurricane Rafael and the earthquakes in the western and eastern regions, there are also outages and maintenance issues at five thermoelectric plants.
