An emotional act of solidarity impacted the life of Ismary Haro, a cancer survivor in Matanzas, thanks to the generosity of Chavely Ojea, a Cuban who chose to donate a breast prosthesis in memory of her late grandmother.

Christian Arbolaez explained in the group "Cardenenses en Facebook" that Ojea mentioned he had acquired the prosthesis for his grandmother, who never got to use it due to her passing.

Instead of storing it away, she chose to give it a special purpose and reached out on social media to find someone who needed it.

His initiative quickly received a positive response, and the donation arrived at Haro, who deeply appreciated this selfless act.

For Haro, this prosthesis represents more than just physical support; it is a symbol of strength, empathy, and solidarity—qualities essential on the journey of recovery after cancer.

This gesture not only honors Ojea's grandmother's memory, but it also shows that small actions can make a big difference in the lives of others, Arbolaez noted.

"Sometimes, a small act can change everything. Today, Chavely reminded us of this," noted Arbolaez.

Stories like this highlight the power of kindness and the ability of Cubans to come together and support one another in the toughest times.

Years ago, the young Cuban Yoandy Palomino shaved his head in solidarity with his mother, who was battling cancer, in observance of International Breast Cancer Awareness Day on October 19.

During a Facebook Live from his home in Jatibonico, Palomino asked his mother, Esther, to shave his head completely and leave him "not a single hair." He emphasized that his decision was a small symbolic act to honor "my warrior."

Another example of support came from a 21-year-old Cuban who sought help for his mother, who is suffering from cancer. He mentioned that he needed medicine, financial assistance, and someone to provide him with a job.

Liudal H Almeida Cuéllar, a resident of Cárdenas, Matanzas, shared his sorrowful story in the Facebook group "TODO DE CUBA!!!", where he provided details about his mother's health condition, as she has a tumor in her colon.
