A fire caused by constant electrical fluctuations left 18-year-old Yalienny without a home in the city of Santa Clara.
Mailyn Ramírez revealed the case in the Facebook group “CUBA LIBÉRATE!”, highlighting that her friend, who had built her home with great effort and sacrifice, had lost everything due to the ongoing electrical instability.
The young woman argued that the fire, which completely destroyed the humble wooden dwelling, was attributed to the frequent power outages in the area, according to the initial report made by the electricity company and the firefighters.
Additionally, he pointed out that Yalienny was not home when the incident occurred, as she had gone to work to earn a living, just like every day.
She pointed out that her friend, who lives alone and works hard to make a living, had recently managed to pay off her refrigerator, one of the few possessions she owned.
He mentioned that fortunately, his pet, a little dog who was at home during the fire, managed to survive, although it experienced a great scare.
Ramírez made an appeal for solidarity, asking for help for his friend, who has lost everything: “We're not asking for money, anything will do—a sheet, a pot, whatever it is; right now, everything is useful.”
He also urged to avoid criticism and pointed out that "this can happen to anyone, it wasn't her negligence."
Those who wish to collaborate with Yalienny can contact her directly at the number 63841265 or go to her address: Calle Monte Final, between Circunvalación and Sub Planta, Ecoin 25 (Subplanta), Santa Clara.
In October, amid a massive blackout in Cuba, an apartment caught fire in the 23 Alamar area of Havana after the family living there attempted to cook with firewood due to the lack of electricity.
A video shared on TikTok by user Lidia Rodríguez indicated that at the time of the incident, there were two children in the house, and fortunately, no one was injured as a result of the happening.
Also in October, a medium-sized fire broke out at a raw materials center in the Artemisa municipality of Güira de Melena.
A user commented that the fire destroyed the stored plastic, while others claimed it was a protest against the severe energy crisis that has been affecting the country since October 18.
