The province of Artemisa experienced an unusually cold dawn this Sunday, with temperatures dropping to as low as 12°C, prompting residents to dust off their warm clothing.
Meteorologist Raydel Ruisánchez reported on his Facebook profile that the minimum temperatures recorded in the province of Artemisa ranged between 12 and 15°C.
The expert noted that minimum temperatures of 12.0°C were recorded in Bauta, the coldest location in Artemisa, followed by 13.6°C in Güira de Melena and 18.0°C in Bahía Honda, all of which belong to the same province.
Early this morning, temperatures in Cuba dropped, particularly in some areas of Matanzas, where the thermometer fell below 10 degrees.
According to information from the Institute of Meteorology (INSMET), the early morning was very cold in areas of the western and central regions, from Matanzas to Ciego de Ávila, with minimum temperatures ranging between 13 and 14 degrees Celsius (°C).
The lowest value was recorded at the Indio Hatuey weather station in Matanzas with a temperature of 9.7 °C.
The meteorologist Raydel Ruisánchez had previously predicted that temperatures would experience a significant drop over this weekend.
According to the Forecast Center of INSMET, the evening of this Sunday will be cool with some rain in the eastern region.
He emphasized that rainfall will be more frequent along the northern coast of the eastern region, extending to the central northern coast during the night.
"The rest of the country will be partly cloudy with light rain," the bulletin noted.
Additionally, he noted that the maximum temperatures will range from 25 to 28 degrees Celsius, higher in the eastern areas. Meanwhile, at night, temperatures will be between 17 and 20 degrees Celsius in the west and central regions, rising to 22 degrees Celsius in the east, and lower in inland locations.
