Surprise trip to Cuba for their parents' wedding anniversary: "They deserve everything."

"Today I am who I am thanks to all the sacrifices they have made for me."

Traveling to Cuba to reunite with family after years of separation is a long-awaited dream for many Cubans abroad, and Sergio Serrano made it a reality. This Cuban bartender decided to surprise his parents on their wedding anniversary, and the video of this special moment is touching hearts on social media.

In the video that @sergio_bartender posted on TikTok two days ago, although the trip took place several weeks ago, Sergio shows his arrival at the family home in the midst of a celebration. Upon seeing him, his mother shouts with joy and rushes to hug him, while his father, visibly moved, remains speechless before crying and embracing his son. The scene is filled with pure emotion and concludes with Sergio surrounded by his family, celebrating this heartfelt reunion.

"Surprise trip to Cuba for my parents' wedding anniversary. They deserve everything. Today, I am who I am thanks to all the sacrifices they have made for me," wrote this Cuban bartender on Instagram when he shared the images last September.

On TikTok, the moving scenes have stirred the empathy and emotions of thousands of users, who shared how such encounters also evoke feelings within them. “My dad died waiting for that hug. There was no chance for a meeting or a farewell; how much pain I carry inside,” wrote one person, reflecting the experience of many who are unable to return in time. Another user added, “I’m crying for someone I don’t know, but I felt that emotion after four years, and it was as if they injected life into you when you see family.”

Some expressed the difficulty of returning to Cuba: “I can't wait to give my loved ones a hug, but I have to wait”; while others mentioned their everlasting longing: “What a great emotion, how much I want to hug my parents and my siblings. But I cannot return to Cuba.”

There were those who identified with Sergio's father, who was visibly moved in the video. “I cried with your dad because that feeling is unique”; “Look how your dad cried, so cute”; and “What a tender hug your dad gave you” were some of the most frequently repeated comments.

"Beautiful reunion. Impossible not to cry"; "I'm crying for strangers"; "What an emotion, I have two weeks left for mine"; "There's nothing like being back with family; those hugs give you strength and the desire to keep fighting," others commented.

Sergio's case is one among many that illustrate how family reunions, even when delayed, have a profound emotional impact, both for those who experience them and for those who witness them from afar.
