Cuban reacts to the cost of insurance to bring his mother to the USA: "Don't say that it's easier for older people."

A Cuban in the U.S. is using TikTok to raise awareness about the economic barriers to bringing his mother over, criticizing the high cost of health insurance and the lack of access to benefits for immigrant seniors.

A Cuban resident in the United States has expressed his frustration on TikTok over the economic difficulties he faced while bringing his mother to the country as part of the family reunification process. The video, posted by the user @lachiwow, has sparked a wave of reactions and debates about the economic barriers immigrants encounter when trying to provide a better life for their loved ones.

"I brought my mother here because I am a citizen, and since my mother is under 65, she doesn't qualify for anything," the man explained at the beginning of his video, visibly upset about the situation. The healthcare system in the United States, which requires expensive health insurance for individuals who do not qualify for public benefits, is one of the main obstacles he faces.

The Cuban detailed that the only insurance available for his mother costs 325 dollars a month, an amount he considers unsustainable for someone earning 15 dollars per hour. “Don’t tell me that bringing parents, elderly individuals, is easy,” he emphasized. “With the economy as it is in this country, it’s not easy.”

Additionally, he criticized that the more affordable insurance options do not cover basic health needs: "You look for cheaper insurance and it doesn't show up, because the ones that do appear don't cover anything." This reality has highlighted the vulnerability of many immigrant families who, despite being legal residents or citizens, face significant sacrifices to support their relatives in the country.

The case reflects the complexities of the immigration and healthcare systems in the United States, where elderly individuals arriving in the country do not automatically have access to programs like Medicare or Medicaid, forcing their families to bear high costs. The Cuban's words have resonated with other immigrants facing similar situations, sparking a debate on social media about the need for reforms in these systems.

The video, which has already garnered thousands of views, has served as a wake-up call for authorities and the general community regarding the economic difficulties faced by immigrants trying to keep their families together.
