Oniel Bebeshito was one of many who joined the fundraising efforts to help Evelyn, a preschool teacher from Avila who urgently needs a place to live in order to care for her bedbound mother.
Freelancer Guillermo Rodríguez was one of those who brought attention to Evelyn and her 88-year-old mother’s situation on Facebook, highlighting that they live in "a house on the verge of collapsing; without a bathroom, water, kitchen, or any appliances."
The Cuban reggaeton artist saw the post and wanted to selflessly help this teacher. "I just got off the phone with one of his representatives, and minutes later I received a transfer of $200 from him and his team," Rodríguez wrote in a post on his profile, expressing gratitude for the singer's gesture.
"Thank you, thank you, kid; this adds to all the little contributions people have made and shows that what matters here is the heartfelt effort put in out of genuine affection. May you, big guy, have a full house at all your concerts," reads the post.
This post triggered dozens of comments, many praising Bebeshito: “Wow. Points for Bebeshito, may God bless him with health and success in his music”; “The humanity of an artist is also reflected in their music, which is why to be a good musician, one must first be a good person”; “That’s how things are... sometimes we judge and think they can only sing 'La batidora' or 'El Punto', but they are humble individuals always ready to help”; “Blessings for his good deed; it’s important to remain grounded despite the success he has achieved, as one day we’re up and the next we’re down”; “He promised his pure one that he would be huge. And with this gesture, he climbs to Olympus. Blessings, Bebeshito”; “I don’t know Bebeshito and I’m not sure if I’ve hummed one of his songs without realizing it, but with this action, he has won me over forever. Blessings to him.”
They have managed to raise over a million pesos to buy a new home for Evelyn, who has shed countless tears of gratitude for everyone who has contributed their bit.
