Donald Trump reacted this Friday to the mysterious drones that have been spotted flying over several cities in the United States and demanded that Joe Biden's administration take action.
"Mysterious sightings of drones across the country. Can this really be happening without the knowledge of our government? I don't think so! Let the people know, now. Otherwise, take them down!!!" demanded the elected president on his social media platform, Truth Social.
Since November 18th, there have been numerous sightings in areas of New Jersey, New York, and Pennsylvania that have caused concern among the population.
Collin Rugg, a reporter for NewsNation, witnessed 50 drones flying from the ocean and claimed that the experience completely changed his perception of the event.
"What I saw was more sophisticated than I ever imagined," he commented on his X account.
For his part, Michael Johnson, president of the New Jersey Innovation Institute, reported that he saw a huge fixed-wing aircraft flying a few hundred feet away, the size of a truck, along with smaller drones.
New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy requested federal assistance from President Joe Biden to investigate the incident, and also reminded that laws restrict the ability of local law enforcement to counter a drone.
"Residents of New Jersey deserve more concrete information about these sightings of unmanned aircraft systems and what is causing them," he stated in a letter published on his X account.
Murphy expressed his gratitude for the guidance from the Department of Homeland Security and the FBI, but he emphasized that there are more questions than answers and that conspiracy theories have emerged on social media and other platforms.
The Department of Homeland Security and the FBI released a joint statement asserting that they have no evidence "that the reported sightings pose a threat to national security or public safety, or that they are linked to foreign entities."
They also indicate that, in coordination with the police, they will continue to deploy personnel and technology "to investigate this situation and confirm whether the reported drone flights are, in fact, drones, manned aircraft, or unexplained sightings."
For his part, Secretary of Homeland Security Alejandro Mayorkas stated in comments to CNN that they had not observed any unusual activity. "We are not aware of any threats," he emphasized.
