A 10-year-old boy in Cardenas, Matanzas, is facing a challenging situation as he remains hospitalized at the Pediatric Hospital, waiting for a high-risk surgery.

The young boy, who was born healthy and is named Israel Daniel, suffered an accident while playing that caused a blood clot in his head. Subsequently, doctors discovered a brain tumor that, over the past four months, has left him without vision, speech, or the ability to walk.

The user Kiryat Poey shared the story in the group "Cardenenses on Facebook," detailing the precarious conditions in which the child's family lives.

They live in a rooming house that was once a warehouse, without internal divisions, bathroom, or kitchen, and they rely on a bucket for their basic needs.

The family consists of three teenagers, aged 12, 14, and 16, in addition to the affected child. They are currently waiting for a response from the housing authorities in Cárdenas and the Communist Party of Cuba (PCC) regarding the possibility of receiving more suitable housing.

The procedure, which will involve the placement of a valve and a hose to drain fluid from the brain, carries a high risk.

According to Poey, the hospital already has the necessary supplies, and the child's parents have signed the appropriate medical consent forms.

In the meantime, 90,000 Cuban pesos, 170 dollars, disposable diapers, and medications have been collected and provided to the family to help them cope with their stay in the hospital, she emphasized.

“We will continue to pray for their health and keep you informed,” concluded the post, expressing gratitude to those who have contributed so far with donations and moral support.
