Yomil Hidalgo criticized the arrogance of traffic police in Cuba following an incident where they demanded a "somatón" without prior notice, affecting his license.

Yomil Hidalgo recently had issues with traffic police in Cuba, and the experience was so negative that he ended up labeling them as arrogant and mistreating citizens.

In a livestream shared on social media by Papel Encara, the reggaeton artist, visibly upset, recounted how some police officers demanded a "somatón" (a technical inspection required for vehicles), something he was unaware he needed to have with him while driving his car.

"One of my constant criticisms of the police in this country is that if you are the authority and you are supposedly doing your job well and are in the right, you don't have to speak to citizens harshly or treat them poorly, because in the end, we are not playing around, we are not wasting time, we are working, and you make us waste all the time in the world," Yomil said.

"When you want them to explain why they are doing their job poorly, they don't provide that explanation and treat you with arrogance," Yomil added, referring to the moment he asked them to specify where it is mandated that he must always carry that "somatón."

"Where does the law state that one must walk with a bouncer?" questioned Yomil, emphasizing that he lost eight points on his license for this infraction.

“When one is in the right and respectfully asks for an explanation, they don’t provide it and act with arrogance. That’s why I’ve had my serious issues here, on a god level, with them,” the singer stated.

The reggaeton artist added that whenever a police officer has treated him with respect, he has responded in the same way and has even taken photos with them when asked.
