Hurricane Eta is the twelfth of the 2020 hurricane season. It was the tropical depression number 29 in the Caribbean and on November 2 it was upgraded to a hurricane.
Eta made landfall on the northeast coast of Nicaragua on November 3, near Puerto Cabezas. It is moving slowly west at a speed of 7 kilometers per hour. If the forecasts hold, Eta or its remnants could emerge into the western Caribbean Sea during the night of Thursday or Friday, where environmental conditions will be favorable for its regeneration as a tropical cyclone.
The rains from Eta are already affecting Cuban territory, so the Forecast Center of the Institute of Meteorology advises to maintain close monitoring of the evolution of the meteorological situation.
