The Cuban singer Yenisel Valdés has said goodbye to the Los Van Van Orchestra.
This is what David Figueroa, better known in the world of music and Cuban Timba as DJ Melao, made known to CiberCuba.
"Melao" confirmed that Yeni certainly no longer belongs to the Van Van.
This closes a cycle, which began with many detractors when maestro Juan Formell opted to include a female voice in his orchestra.
Little by little, Yeni demonstrated not only that she had excellent vocal qualities, but also a heart made for music and timba.
Another source close to Alexander Abreu confirmed the news to CiberCuba.
Yeni's departure leaves a gap in the orchestra that, according to another source "will be occupied by Pedrito Calvo", although the latter has not been corroborated.
Yeni, a graduate of Choral Conducting at the Pinar del Rio Provincial School of Arts, arrived on the Cuban music scene in 1997, when she began to be part of the NG La Banda orchestra, along with maestro José Luis Cortés. Four years later, in 2001, Juan Formell proposed to her to be part of the so-called "Cuban Music Train", an offer that Yeni did not reject.
He spent 16 years in Van Van.
The Van Van performed yesterday at the Habana Café of the Melía Cohíba, and according to the images that we can see in the following videos, Yeni is not on stage along with the rest of the singers of the Orchestra.
