The circus artist Hermes Mora won two awards at the first Ibero-American Circus Festival (Firco), held between October 19 and 21 in Madrid (Spain), as announced yesterday Monday by the National Circus of Cuba.

The trapeze artist won the prize for "revelation artist" and "best performance", described by specialists as a new star of the group "Companía Havana", based in the Cuban capital.

The young Hermes Mora Pompa graduated from the National Circus School in Havana in 2017. In his performances, his refined technique draws attention, such as in the Aerial Pole Fitness exercise.

Already at the XVII International Circuba Festival 2018, which was held between June 24 and 29 this year, Mora Pompa received the “Male Interpretation Tent” Award.

In addition to the Cuban Hermes Mora, the Argentine Sofía Speratti was also recognized with the Circuba Award for Originality; the Portuguese and Brazilian duo 2 Filles, which won the audience award, and the Colombian duo Requiem, with the Circo del Sol award.

Venezuelan Aimé Morales won first place in the circus wheel; the Peruvian duo Vitalys (second place in the heads-up), the Argentine duo Laos (third place in acrobatic adagio).

Firco 2018 is organized by the Circontinentes Association and brings together young circus artists from Ibero-American countries. The recently concluded edition took place in Price Circus Theatre, from Madrid.
