The international corporation Habanos S.A. generated 568 million dollars during 2021, thus achieving economic growth of 15 percent compared to the previous year;reported the official newspaperGranma.

The results were associated with the sale of Premium cigars, made entirely by hand by the island's cigar rollers and considered the best of their type in the world. Currently 27 premium cigar brands, including Cohiba, Montecristo, Romeo y Julieta, Partagás, Hoyo de Monterrey and H. Upmann, are sold in more than 150 countries on five continents.

"We are very proud to lead the Premium cigar category and to continue growing, despite the situations experienced in the last two years," stated the Cuban Inocente Núñez Blanco and the Spanish Luis Sánchez-Harguindey Pardo de Vera, co-presidents of Habanos, S.A. , alluding to the complicated scenario that the coronavirus pandemic has created.

Spain, China, Germany, France and Switzerland have been the corporation's top five markets; with which Europe remains the main one, with 59 percent of sales in volume, while followed by Asia-Pacific, America, and Africa and the Middle East contributed 16, 14 and 11 percent, respectively.

Leopoldo Cintra González, Commercial Vice President, and José María López Inchaurbe, Development Vice President of Habanos, S.A., commented that the company maintains the "commitment to offering the best experience to our fans, exclusive products and novelties, all under the quality, tradition and unique origin, which make Cuban cigars a luxury product appreciated throughout the world.

"Our fans have remained faithful to the Habano and their tastes and, in many cases during the past year, they incorporated vitolas and brands that were previously part of a more social consumption into domestic consumption," they added.

Habanos, S.A. acknowledged that there have been disruptions and delays in the supply of some of the best-selling vitolas, due to the pandemic and strong international demand, but that in any case they managed to export 38 new products in 2021 and that in the first months of the current year There has been a gradual improvement in supplies.

Some of the most anticipated launches are those of the Cohiba Ámbar, Cohiba Ideales and Cohiba Limited Edition 2021 cigars, in tribute to the brand's 55th anniversary.
