Cubans asked for help on social networks for Ana Laura Olivera, a girl who was just over a month old and who suffers from acute scabies (scabies), malnutrition and colds.
Admitted to the pediatric hospital in Marianao, Havana, the little girl is in the care of her 20-year-old father, who obtained absolute custody because the mother did not take care of her; the activist saidDiasniurka Salcedo Verdecia.
"I just ask for everyone's help, with whatever they can. Mainly with something to cure this disease. Permethrin or any medication," explained the Cuban activist.
Likewise, the baby needs Vitamin C and other nutrients, because she is malnourished and weighs only seven pounds.
"The doctors at this hospital know about this case and have made donations to help them," said Salcedo Verdecia, who is not the first time he has asked for help for cases like this.
Those interested in collaborating can contact the little girl's grandmother by phone+53 5 9680927.
After the publication on Facebook, there were not only messages of solidarity with the girl, but some were willing to help and provide the medication that would cure her of scabies.
Scabies in humans is caused by a mite calledSarcoptes scabiei var, which burrows into the skin and lays eggs, ultimately triggering an immune response in the host, causing intense itching and skin swelling and irritation.
Requests for helpCubans with scabies has increased in recent months, given the lack of medicine to treat it and the deterioration of the living conditions of citizens, who have limited access to drinking water and hygiene products.
Activists like comedian Limay Blanco constantly ask for collaboration (mainly economic) toacquire Permethrin and donate it to children who suffer from the disease.
In June of last year, a family of two adults and four children, residents in Banes, Holguín,They suffered from scabies and did not have the resources to treat it.
