A severe stormhits the Miami metropolitan area this Monday afternoon and could cause flooding in urban areas.

The United States Climate Prediction CenterIndian that multiple flowering storms spread from Homestead and the Keys to Miami, and thunderstorms have developed west of this city.

One of the strongest storms is near Miami Beach moving east at about 10 miles per hour and could produce winds of more than 40 miles per hour and half-inch hail.

A flood warning was issued for Miami Beach, Downtown Miami and Coral Gables until at least 3:30 p.m.

"The lack of vertical wind shear should maintain thunderstorm activity and additional storms likely triggered by sea breezes moving inland," the site reported.

The centers of these events have strengthened and conditions are currently favorable for the development of storms that are slightly more organized than typical pulse storms.

This increases the risk of flash flooding, especially in urbanized environments that have the highest concentration of hydrophobic surfaces.

In past months, theheavy rains flooded some citiesfrom Miami-Dade and Broward counties, Florida.

The most significant rainfall accumulations were recorded in Miami Gardens, with more than 4.26 inches of water since midnight, 3.7 inches in Miami Beach, 3.14 inches in Pembroke Pines and 2.67 inches in Davie.
