The rapperJorge Lian García Díaz, known by his stage nameKamankola, recorded a new song in Miami with the singer-songwriterAmaury Gutierrez, in whose verses they talk about returning to Cuba when the dictatorship has fallen.

“I will return to Cuba when the dictatorship falls. “Heaven tells me that he has little left.”says the lyrics of a song, whose video clip was also filmed in Miami with guests from historical exile, opponents and former Cuban political prisoners.

Kamankola was delighted to record and perform concerts in Miami, a city he has visited before. The rapper, who frontally denounces the Cuban dictatorship, said that his song “I will return” is a declaration of principles.

“I am at a moment in my life when I am convinced that I will not return to Cuba until I am free,” said the composer toCubaNet.

After recording with the troubadour, Kamankola said that he had just “fulfilled a dream.” In a post on his social networks, the rapper thanked Amaury for his work and his life.

“I never thought that a guy I admire so much would tell me so many beautiful things about my songs…, thank you. God bless your songs and your being. This city is definitely as much a part of me, as I am so part of it. Long live Miami!… My Northern Havana,” he said.

Interviewed during the recording of the video clip for the song, Amaury pointed out that “when the dictatorship listens to quality music, they are very afraid, because they know that they have no place to [criticize it].”

“Other attitudes are appreciated, but when it is a very good song, then that remains for history and has a lot of weight,” stressed the composer who maintains an open stance against the island's regime.

Gutiérrez, who was born in the San Antonio de las Vueltas neighborhood, in the Camajuaní municipality, Villa Clara province, has lived outside the island for several years. Afterthe historic protests of 11J in Cuba, the troubadour premiered “Pueblo de mi corazón”, an emotional song dedicated to the protesters.

“People of my heart, July 11 is and will be the day of redemption, and in history it will remain, the dawn of light and hope, a rebirth, a giant rises”, says at another time the theme song of the singer-songwriter, who on several occasions throughout his career has sung in pursuit of the freedom of Cuba.

The most recent precedent was“Liberty and Amen”, in which Gutiérrez joined his voice to that ofBaby Lores, Descemer Good, insurrection, The Uniko, Eddy K andYanet "Trueno" Aguilera.

For his part, Kamankola defined the song “I will return” as a “vomit of the soul” and expressed the “pride, honor and privilege [that it means] to be able to contribute with my songs to this fight that we hope will not be eternal.”

“Yesterday the video clip for the song “YO VOLVERÉ” was filmed… between tears… surrounded by heroes, patriots, people who carry their suffering with dignity… Thank you Amaury… for being such a beautiful person, so giant, so immense. “It is a true honor to have you along the way…” Kamankola said on Instagram.

Gutiérrez's first album (Amaury, 1999) was nominated for a Latin Grammy and sold more than 600,000 copies. He received the revelation artist of the year award and the Onda Award in Spain in 2000. In 2011 he won his Latin Grammy for Best Singer-Songwriter Album, with his album "Sesiones intimates".

In October 2022,Kamankola performed for the first time in Miami and Tampa. His music, an exquisite fusion of genres in which rap plays a special role, has been celebrated by critics, colleagues and the general public.

Currently based in Spain, and after almost a decade moving between Havana and Madrid, he has played on stages in Cuba and the world and shared the stage with artists such asJoaquin Sabina, Javier Ruibal, David Torrens andOpen Havana.
