Cuban men's basketball coach dismissed

The official note issued does not mention the new occupant of the square.

After the resounding shipwreck in theFiba Olympic Prequalifier of the Americas, the National Basketball Commission decided to release Eduardo Moya from his responsibility as technical director of the Cuban men's team.

The official note issued says that "after the analyzes concluded this Thursday within its technical commission", it was decided to take this step as a result "of evaluations andexchanges carried out in a climate of transparency and professionalism".

The statement clarifies that "the competitive balances of that team and its projection in the short, medium and long terms" were taken into account.

Furthermore, the text clarifies that Moya's experience will be used in "the exercise of other tasks", and very much in the style of secrecy fashionable in the island sports field,concludes without naming the new occupant of that position, which "we will inform in a timely manner."

Moya had taken over as coach of the national team in 2021, replacing José 'Pepe' Ramírez.

The pre-qualifier was played in Argentina between August 14 and 20, and thereCuba was eliminated from the field by Bahamas (109-68) and the host team (109-66).

Both rivals subsequently advanced to the gold discussion, which the Caribbean won with a score of 82-75.
