The biggest prize ofPowerball increased to $638 million after 25 consecutive drawings without a winner.
The next drawing will take place this Monday night and the jackpot has a cash value of 304.2 million dollars, according to theplaceof the draw.
The jackpot is the third-largest Powerball prize this year, behind the $754.6 million Powerball win in Washington on Feb. 6 and the $1.08 billion in California on July 19.
The Powerball jackpot came out this Saturday night after no ticket matched the six numbers drawn: the white balls 8, 11, 19, 24 and 46 and the red Powerball 5.
Saturday's drawing produced more than 1.2 million winning tickets nationwide, including two tickets sold in Arizona and Washington that matched all five white balls and won $1 million in prizes. Other big prizes from Saturday night include 63 tickets that won prizes of 50,000 and ten tickets that won prizes of 100,000.
The previous Powerball jackpot was won on July 19, when a ticket from California matched all five white balls and the red Powerball to win $1.08 billion, the game's third prize to reach the billion-dollar mark.
HePowerball It costs two dollars a ticket and is played in 45 states, as well as Washington DC, Puerto Rico and the US Virgin Islands.
There are only eight states, Florida among them, that do not charge state taxes on lottery winnings, which means they offer the highest payout. In addition to the Sunshine State, California, New Hampshire, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Washington and Wyoming appear on that list.
