José Gilberto Valdés Aguilar He was well known and esteemed in his community. He practiced his profession in the Adelante newspaper, in Televisión Camagüey, in the digital sites of the local telecenter and in Cubaperiodistas.

He specialized in sugar agroindustry issues and aspects of the Cuban economy. He was a teacher to several generations of professionals and one of the founders, in 2006, of the Journalism degree at the University of Camagüey.
