A couple of Cubans who arrived in the United States less than a month ago is experiencing the joy of that personal milestone of owning their first car.
A photo shared on Mabele Amelia Padilla Martínez's Facebook wall shows her mother and her partner, both next to a white car.
"After 26 days of being here, they have their first car," wrote the young woman, who celebrated this significant moment in the lives of emigrants as they achieve the milestone of obtaining their first vehicle.
Padilla expressed her gratitude to those who shared with her the arrival of her mother to U.S. soil less than a month ago, and she shared an encouraging message to all her followers who aspire to a better future: “WANTING is POWER.”
The post garnered a lot of attention, with congratulatory messages from people who share in the joy of the mother and daughter being together, as well as the achievement of the woman and her partner having a car.
The first car in the lives of Cuban emigrants symbolizes progress, mobility, independence, and above all, provides the opportunity to secure good jobs.
For that reason, another couple that arrived in the United States also celebrated their achievement of owning a car in less than a year.
The man surprised the girl, who teared up with emotion upon seeing a Volkswagen parked in front of her house, adorned with a big red bow.
A young Cuban also bought his first car as soon as he had the paperwork, after living in Miami for a year and a half.
"Since I arrived, I focused on working and saving to better myself, and within a year, when I got my papers, just a few days later, I was able to buy my car, with effort and sacrifice," said TikToker Dairon Cano, proudly pointing at his white Nissan Sentra.
"It's not a big deal, but it's how I make money, and it's simply to show Cubans that with effort, sacrifice, and dedication, you can achieve anything you want," he added, emphasizing that there is more to come.
