A motorcyclist was injured after being hit by a car in Havana, at the central intersection of Zapata and Paseo, El Vedado.
Internet user Yasmany Alfonso, a member of the Facebook group "Automobile Accidents in Cuba," shared photos showing a motorcycle lying in the street, almost underneath a car.
"The driver of the motorcycle was taken away unconscious," he revealed.
Alfonso, who lives two blocks from the location, noted that he was there just seconds after the accident and the traffic light was green.
According to him, there was a couple in the car. "The woman seemed to be unhurt, but I saw the man in the car who wasn’t moving."
"This avenue is very wide, and the worst part is the numbered traffic light, where one says 'I have three seconds left' and the other says 'only three seconds remain.' One doesn’t stop and the other goes too soon," he commented on the possible cause of the incident.
On Tuesday, a curious accident occurred in Guantánamo, where a motorcyclist crashed into the tow chain connecting two vehicles.
According to a witness, the incident occurred at the intersection of Moncada and Prado streets when one car was towing another, and the motorcycle didn't see the chain and got tangled up.
The motorcyclist and their passenger were thrown upward, but fortunately, they did not sustain any injuries. Apparently, the driver of the motorcycle was to blame for not paying attention to the road.
Also on Tuesday, but in Havana, an oil spill in the area of the Obelisco roundabout in Marianao caused several motorcyclists to have accidents.
A social media user alerted others on Facebook about what was happening and claimed that in less than an hour, over a dozen motorcycles had skidded and fallen.
Last week, a vintage car hit a motorcycle in the La Víbora neighborhood of the 10 de Octubre municipality, apparently due to a pothole.
A witness claimed on Facebook that a third vehicle, a Lada, fell into the pothole, causing issues with its suspension. To avoid colliding with the Lada, the almendrón swerved and hit the motorcycle.
"Porvenir and Font. [It happened] due to a hole in front of Manzanillo. The Lada lost the ball and the Chevi, dodging the hole, went off the path and collided with the motorcycle," he detailed.
