The Latin American Stadium, the largest of its kind in the country and home to one of the classic Cuban baseball teams, Industriales, shows a depressing and neglected image as far as its grass is concerned.

Daniel de Malas, the creator of the digital page Swing Completo He shared an image on his social networks where you can see the neglect of the stadium grass, which abandoned its green color for a faded brown color.

“This is what Havana's Gran Stadium looks like today, what we once considered the cathedral of Cuban baseball,” said de Malas on X (formerly known as Twitter).

He warned, ironically, that "the Island is a total disaster, luckily 'baseball is national heritage.'"

In the comments section, people also left their impressions of an image that attracts attention, but also entails memories of former games in the also known as “Colossus del Cerro”.

“It is the reflection of 65 years of disaster,” mentioned one user.

“How horrible, how sad!” said one Internet user.

In 2021, it emerged that the Latin American stadium would be managed by the private sector, a measure adopted by the government as part of its strategy to try to revitalize baseball in Cuba.

According to the information, this would be followed by the search for capital to inject into the different tournaments, such as the National Series, and in this way eliminate dependence on the budget assigned by the State.

But, apparently, neither one nor the other measure has been adopted, especially when the current National Series is in the doldrums by the actions of players, team managers and referees.

Recently they were Cienfuegos players suspended, in addition to the director of the team from that province, who attacked the referees who were participating in a ball game.

Other referee was attacked in a match between Pinar del Río and Matanzas, at the Capitán San Luis stadium, after a game where he could not serve as a judge and allegedly made the mistake of singing a wrong out, in the ninth inning.

Precisely, another unfortunate event occurred in Latin America when They withdrew the victory of a game from the Industriales team for using an ineligible player.
