The garbage and sewage leaks proliferate in some neighborhoods of the city of Santiago de Cuba, without the regime providing any solution to the problem.
The website Diario de Cuba published a video on Facebook on Friday showing a huge trench open in the middle of the street, with several tens of meters in length, from which black water emerges.
"The stench of sewage and clogged sewers floods Santiago de Cuba," the news daily pointed out, indicating that this situation is present in neighborhoods such as Los Pinos, Los Olmos, and San Pedrito, affecting the children and elderly people in the community.
In another moment of the video, you can also see the garbage accumulated on one of the streets in the Los Olmos neighborhood, very close to a children's playground and a bio-healthy gym, places where children usually play.
In recent days, the government of the province of Santiago de Cuba has been the subject of numerous criticisms due to poor management in addressing health-related issues.
Recently, the crisis with water supply in the city of Santiago de Cuba pushed people to extreme solutions, such as collecting the precious liquid directly from a street leak, compromising its quality and safety, putting lives at risk.
The regime admitted last Monday that the population was being affected by an outbreak of an unknown viral disease in two municipalities, and also that at least eight people were hospitalized for this reason.
According to the statement published on Facebook, the cases were reported between May 12 and 18 in the municipality of Songo-La Maya, as well as in the health areas Carlos J. Finlay and Ernesto Guevara de la Serna, both located in the head municipality.
Although the Provincial Health Department in Santiago de Cuba only mentioned the eight patients admitted, the Santiago communicator Yosmany Mayeta recently alerted about the viral disease outbreak, indicating that at least 20 people were hospitalized.
The independent journalist stated that around 300 people had confirmed that the population was being affected and also pointed out that there were cases in the town of Santa María, in the main municipality.
