"The ones who rule at the Santiago Clinic are the cockroaches," said the reporter, who did not specify where in the institution the recording was made.

"This is a widespread evil in all government institutions. This is the shitty power that we have to thank," he added.

Several Internet users who have been admitted to the center confirmed having suffered from these unpleasant and harmful insects.

"At dawn you have to cover yourself well, otherwise they will sneak in wherever you have a gap," said one woman.

"I experienced that personally. But I'll tell you more: look for information to see if you can find it (the Clinic is infected with bedbugs). Someone has to have information. They have had to close rooms temporarily but they have not been eradicated," said another.

Other residents of Santiago denounced that the consequences of the lack of cleanliness can be seen in other important health centers, such as the Saturnino Lora Provincial Clinical Surgical Hospital or the Sur Children's Hospital, popularly known as La Colonia.

Almost a year ago, a pregnant woman who was admitted to give birth at the Juan Bruno Zayas Hospital denounced the terrible conditions and mistreatment she suffered.

"This place is more of a garbage dump than a hospital,the cockroaches want to take you, the bathrooms are sad, the treatment of the laboratory staff is terrible. And why continue, if in the end you complain wherever you complain, this will continue and get worse," lamented Yendis Martínez Aroche.

The presence of cockroaches, flies, bedbugs and other animals in Cuban hospitals is a frequent complaint on social networks, one of the aspects, along with the lack of medicines and supplies and the material deterioration of the buildings, that show the crisis it is going through. This month, an Internet user shared a video showing thecockroaches roam for their respect in the bathrooms of the guard unit of a hospital in Ciego de Ávila.

"This is the medical power that the Cuban regime is selling around the world," he wrote on Twitter.

In September of last year, journalist Mario J. Pentón broadcast another disgusting scene recorded at the Juan Manuel Márquez Pediatric Hospital in Havana, wherethe cockroaches were in a bathroom and even in the beds.

In the images, at least four small cockroaches were seen, three of them on the mattress and a fourth on the bed rail.
