Brutal murder of a Cuban in a neighborhood of Havana

The young woman was 32 years old and was from the province of Camagüey.

A 32-year-old Cuban woman named Cindy was murdered on May 18th in the Obrero neighborhood of the San Miguel del Padrón municipality in Havana, according to reports on social media.

Testimonials from the family of the alleged aggressor indicate a history of abusive behavior, although specific details regarding the causes of the tragic event have not been provided.

In the Facebook group "La Cuevita," it was mentioned that the young woman was originally from Camagüey and had been living in Havana for the past four years.

According to family members, the young woman was in a romantic relationship with the alleged assailant, and on several occasions, she had been warned to end that relationship.

An alleged niece of the man stated that the warnings had come from her mother regarding the murdered young woman, and she claimed that her uncle's abusive behavior towards women was common and that he had been reported to the police numerous times for this reason.

So far this year, the YoSíTeCreo (YSTCC) platform in Cuba and the Gender Observatory of Alas Tensas (OGAT) have recorded 16 femicides on the island.

This Thursday, a woman who was stabbed by her ex-partner in the city of Santiago de Cuba, in broad daylight and in front of one of her children, later died.

The woman was the mother of three children, one of whom was a child she had in common with the man who assaulted her.
