The Ministry of the Interior (MININT) confirmed the arrest of Alieski Martínez Ferrer, accused of murdering his own son and sexually assaulting a pregnant woman eight months along in the municipality of Minas, in the province of Camagüey.
MININT did not provide details on how the capture occurred but confirmed that the detention took place in the early hours of December 2.
The brief note from the Ministry of the Interior indicated that the incident occurred on the morning of November 26 and that during the search for the individual, "the unconditional support of the residents of the municipality of Minas was received, who provided valuable information to apprehend this individual."
"The work on legalizing the facts continues, ensuring compliance with procedural guarantees so that the full weight of the law falls upon this," concluded the MININT.
