Although he was already intending to take the child's life, family members claim that no one imagined he could harm the child.

The man hanged the minor and then, in his escape, reportedly assaulted a pregnant woman on the street who was on her way to a medical appointment, abused her, and stole her cell phone. The woman is believed to be hospitalized in critical condition at the Maternal Hospital in Camagüey.

The child's mother was being guarded by the police because the man claimed he was going to come for her and do the same.
