Cubans to Díaz-Canel on Father's Day: "It's not creative resistance, it's giving a better future to our children."

Miguel Díaz-Canel has received a multitude of criticisms for his congratulatory message for Father's Day that he shared on his Twitter account.

The ruler usually posts messages on this date, but this time, amidst the energy crisis and the ruthless blackouts hitting the country, he dedicated his text to an electrical sector worker.

Happy Father's Day and thank you for the example to Cubans who, like Antonio, a mechanic in power plants, are able to face and overcome the nation's greatest challenges, inspiring their children," she wrote, alongside a photo of the worker with his daughter.

Several Cubans reminded the leader of the sad situation that many Cuban families are experiencing, immersed in the greatest scarcity and hardship. They will not be able to celebrate anything this Sunday because of the bad policies of their government.

A person from Santiago remembered Adam Smith when he said that no society can be happy and prosperous if the majority of its citizens are poor and miserable. "88% of the Cuban population survives in endemic poverty, under uncontrolled inflation, and a repressive apparatus to prevent them from protesting," he emphasized.

"Congratulations to all the fathers who have been separated from their children because of communism," pointed out an internet user, in reference to the migratory exodus that has separated thousands of Cuban families.

Some internet users took advantage of Antonio's own story, the electrical worker that Díaz-Canel used as an example, to reaffirm their critical comment.
