In a viral TikTok video, a Cuban named Maiky (maiky8838) gives us a fun lesson about some of the unique expressions used in Cuba. Phrases that only those who have spent time with Cubans will understand outside the island, such as "What a piece!" or "What a mango!" to refer to a cute guy.
"The friend is the consort or partner. We don't say 'here comes my boyfriend,' we say here comes 'the piza.' The house is the gao. We call someone with no money 'dragged' and the one who has it is 'the pot'," comments this Cuban woman in her TikTok video, in which she goes through Cuban expressions that reflect the originality of the island's language.
Cubans don't say "I bought a pair of shoes," we say "what a pair of sticks I've picked up." The little girl you don't like is the cousin. We don't say "you got cheated on," we say "you're a tremendous jerk," concludes.
