A 28-year-old Cuban resident of Miami has been arrested and charged with throwing rocks at random vehicles.
The incident occurred at the intersection of Southwest 52nd Court and West Flagler Street, where several cars sustained various damages and at least one person was injured
According to the arrest report obtained by Local 10, a police officer arrived at the scene around 6:15 PM, shortly after an assault had occurred against a driver.
The victim and a witness identified Gadiel Luis Sabatela as the person who was picking up stones from the ground and throwing them at the cars.
The driver, who preferred not to reveal his identity, said he was driving north on 52nd Court when Sabatela threw a stone through his open window.
The rock struck him on the left side of the face, causing a small cut and injuring his left hand. The impact led the driver to lose control of the vehicle, resulting in a crash against a wall.
Sabatela was arrested and charged with a count of shooting or launching a deadly projectile.
As of Tuesday afternoon, he remained in custody at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center (TGK) in Miami-Dade County, where no bail had been set for him yet.
The Miami Police continue their investigation and are asking anyone with information about the incident to come forward.
According to América TeVe, the area of Southwest 52nd Court and West Flagler Street was briefly closed for authorities to gather evidence.
