A Cuban woman is murdered by her ex-partner in a parking lot in Texas.

A 42-year-old Cuban woman was stabbed to death early Monday by her ex-partner in the city of Irving, in Dallas County, Texas, as reported by the Police Department of that locality.

The victim has been identified as Sucel Gómez. Her assailant, 44 years old, is named Yunier Aldazábal and has already been arrested by the police.

The press release revealed that at around 6:15 a.m. on July 1st, the police received a call about an incident that occurred in a parking lot on Walnut Hill Lane.

Upon arriving at the scene, they discovered the victim lying on the ground with several stab wounds.

Although the aggressor fled the scene after committing the femicide, he was located by the police inside his vehicle at around 9 in the morning (local time) in a parking area.

The man was arrested without incident and is currently in police custody.

The crime reporter, Niover Licea, pointed out that Sucel had recently ended her romantic relationship with Aldazábal, who had allegedly traveled all the way from North Dakota to murder her.

The woman - who according to reports had recently arrived in the USA - was the mother of two children aged 12 and 15. It has not been revealed whether the minors were living with her in US territory or if they are in Cuba.

Both the victim and the attacker are natives of the municipality of Cueto, in the province of Holguín, where the crime has shocked the community.

Sucel Gómez worked as a teacher on the island, and several of her former students have been shocked by the tragedy.

My teacher, in these cases is when I am left speechless. I will always remember you as one of the best teachers I have ever had. You filled us with your love and made us grow every day. For each class, you brought motivation with the aim of making us feel comfortable," wrote a young internet user in a heartfelt post on Facebook.

You were a teacher, a guide, a friend. Your departure leaves me in great pain. I don't understand why these things happen to good people. May God take care of you, my dear, wherever you are. Rest in peace," added the former student of the murdered woman.

"My dear friend, I still can't believe you're gone. A great woman, a warrior, full of many goals and dreams. May God have you in His Holy Glory. My deepest condolences to her family," wrote another person close to the deceased Cuban.
