A Cuban mother is asking for help to obtain a humanitarian visa for her five-year-old daughter, who has been suffering from leukemia since she was two.
"I turn to social media in the hope that someone can help me, believe me, doing this is not to my liking and it hurts me a lot to expose the photos of my girl, but I need help," Janet Oliva said on Facebook.
According to reports, the little girl debuted with ALL Leukemia on November 3, 2021, and since then has been receiving treatment at the Hematology Institute in Havana.
During her treatment, she remained quite stable and completed her full treatment last March. However, when a bone marrow examination was performed to determine if she was already cured, the results showed that she had more malignant cells and her marrow was infiltrated.
It started again on June 10th with the relapse treatment, which is stronger than the previous ones. At the moment, we are hospitalized, and we are seeking the necessary help to apply for the humanitarian visa to be able to take care of my daughter. I spoke with a doctor from Niklaus Hospital and he said he would attend to her," she revealed.
"At the Hematology Institute in Cuba, the doctors are excellent and despite the good care and dedication, there are not enough resources for such a strong treatment, which are these regimens. That's why I am trying to apply for a humanitarian visa," he added."
Cuban artists have echoed the plea of this anguished mother.
"God, put your miraculous hand for the healing of this princess," said comedian Andy Vázquez on Facebook.
"He needs a humanitarian visa, please share," Oniel Bebeshito requested on his Instagram account.
