They bid farewell to a young woman who died in Santiago de Cuba after being hit by a Girón bus.

The 32-year-old woman, who passed away on Wednesday in Santiago de Cuba after a tragic accident in the historic center of the city, was farewelled on Thursday by her family and friends.

Journalist Yosmany Mayeta posted an emotional video on Facebook in which Yanileidis Vázquez Quiala's loved ones said their final goodbye to the young mother of three children.

The video showed the victim's husband, who appeared visibly affected and insisted on seeing his wife before she was buried.

Yanileidis was walking on the sidewalk of Heredia and Peralejo street when a Girón bus passing through the area lost its brakes and crashed into an old building, which collapsed immediately as a result of the impact.

According to the testimony of witnesses -shared by the aforementioned communicator- the woman was buried under the rubble of the collapse.

"We had to dig her out from under the blocks, and it was already too late to take her to the hospital. She died instantly," revealed one of the people who helped assist the victim.

At the time of the incident, the woman was accompanied by her husband, who did survive the tragic event and was desperate.

The firefighters and police quickly arrived at the scene to provide assistance and carry out the necessary rescue work, but the victim died on the spot.

Mayeta indicated that the bus involved in the accident is a bus that occasionally transports workers from the "Moncada" Cement Factory, located in the Abel Santamaría neighborhood.
