An animal shelter posted a unique announcement on social media for the adoption of a puppy, looking for someone without a parole condition, who does not live in rental housing, has no allergies, and will not place the dog on a rooftop.
Alexa Milena Durán Ruiz posted a message in the Facebook group “We Are Your Voice” explaining that the puppy had to be rescued previously, but her brother did not have the same luck as he was killed: “So we are looking for a special family that meets all the requirements for Campanita to grow up very happy and surrounded by Love.”
In addition to looking for a person without parole who also does not live in rented accommodation, without allergies, and who will not place the dog on a rooftop, the animal rights advocate requested someone with “resources to take her to the veterinarian if needed, guaranteed food, and who is very sure of the responsibility they are going to take on.”
In addition, she clarified that she is not the owner of Campanita, but she will help in the adoption process, which will include an interview with the people who wish to take the puppy, in which they will be very strict, she assured.
"We cannot afford the luxury of mistakes," he noted. He also indicated that interested parties must be from Havana because there will be follow-up after the adoption.
The Cuban migration crisis has also affected pets, which are often abandoned and, in the best cases, put up for adoption.
In June, animal protector Yenney Caballero alerted about a dog found at the José Martí International Airport in Havana that was apparently waiting for the return of its family, which had left the country.
The activist requested help on Facebook to transport the dog from terminal three to the home of a rescue shelter, offering to cover the cost of the trip.
Also in June, Caballero herself reported on Facebook that the owners of a Siberian Husky puppy left it locked up for three days in an abandoned house in San José de las Lajas, Mayabeque.
In July, an internet user reported that a dog was abandoned at a bus stop in Havana, where it was left tied to a fence with a collar and its name written on a piece of cardboard; the animal was rescued and they are now looking for someone to adopt it.
"This little dog was abandoned on Saturday morning with its collar, its name, and everything. They tied it up at the stop we marked in green," explained Raisa Pérez Villaverde in the Facebook group "SOS Callejeros Cuba."
