A young Cuban recently sought help via social media to locate her lost Pekingese dog in Old Havana, offering a reward of $500 for its safe return.

However, Melanie León clarified on Facebook that she will only give the reward "if it's clearly the real puppy."

He also made it clear: “I won’t go to any location unless I receive photos beforehand or speak via video call,” as an apparent measure to avoid scams.

Finally, she specified that the dog went missing in the Belén neighborhood of Old Havana and provided two phone numbers to receive any information: 50118282 and 78606483.

In a previous post, León clarified that the dog, named Hachi, is affectionate but also sensitive, as he is epileptic, hyperactive, and intolerant to many foods.

She added that even if someone else bought him, the reward would still be given, as Hachi is regarded as a son and an essential part of the family: “I feel empty; they have taken the most precious thing in my life away from me. I will not tire of searching for him,” she expressed.

Usually, people turn to social media for help in finding their lost pets, offering rewards as an act of love and commitment towards their dogs and cats.

In September, someone in Havana offered a reward of $500 on social media to anyone who can return their lost dog.

Elena Gonzales reported in the Facebook group “Huellas Callejeras de Cuba” that the animal, named Leche due to its white color, was last seen at the intersection of 9th and 62nd streets in the Miramar neighborhood, Playa municipality.

A month earlier, a family from Sancti Spíritus offered a reward of $200 for anyone who finds and returns their lost dog.

Vivian González Lorenzo reported in the Facebook group “(SOS) Lost Dogs in Cuba” that the pet, apparently a dachshund, went missing in the Garaita area, near the Children's Circle.
