A driver, reportedly under the influence, crashed into an electrical pole in Santiago de Cuba on Sunday afternoon while transporting minors as passengers. Fortunately, no injuries were reported.
Journalist Yosmany Mayeta reported on Facebook that the incident occurred at the corner of Trocha and Calvario streets, in front of the pharmacy and the entrance to the Dr. Antonio María Béguez César Children's Hospital, commonly known as "La Colonia."
According to eyewitnesses, neither the driver nor the minors sustained any injuries.
He pointed out that the driver appeared to be drunk and that they were returning from the beach. "The damage to the car seems to amount to several thousand pesos," he noted.
Last Saturday, an accident in Holguín resulted in the deaths of two adults and left six others injured, including two children.
The unfortunate incident occurred in the municipality of Mayarí, when a Chevrolet classic car crashed into a tree.
Also in Holguín, a motorized police officer—commonly known as "caballitos"—died last Friday in a traffic accident in the municipality of Sagua de Tánamo.
A post in the Facebook group Accidents Buses & Trucks indicated that the incident involved the deceased officer and a truck, occurring in the area known as "Curva del Carpintero," on the Levisa - Sagua road.
On the same Friday, but in the Cuban capital, a car fell into a large ditch that had been opened in the roadway by the company Aguas de La Habana, in the Cerro municipality, causing significant damage to its body.
