Animal protectors in the province of Sancti Spíritus shared on social media this Sunday the story of a stray dog that visits a volunteer's home every day in search of food.
The ARCA Sancti Spíritus Foundation posted on Facebook that “every day, she is there in front of our volunteer’s door looking for her little potato.”
ARCA shared an image showing a dog outside the house, waiting for its food. "Feed a stray, and you nourish your own soul," the foundation noted.
The organization has repeatedly urged people to feed stray dogs, as much as they can, even amid shortages.
"You just have to understand that they are also hungry, and with just a little of what you have left, you can feed these poor homeless animals," they noted on social media.
ARCA has also praised the gesture of some volunteers who, every day, add new dogs to the list of animals they feed daily.
In this regard, he mentioned to Ali that he added two dogs nicknamed the blonde and the chubby one. "For them, this might be the only food of the day," they emphasized.
Recently, an animal advocate reached out for help from those willing to contribute in raising $800 to buy a house in the countryside and establish a dog shelter in Güines, a municipality in the province of Mayabeque, Cuba.
According to the message shared by Alberto Luiz Cruz on Facebook, the house they intend to acquire has ample space, water, and electricity, making it an ideal place to house the animals.
Requests for help on social media are common, with animal protectors emphasizing that their work is unsustainable without community support.
For instance, in recent days, animal rights activists in Havana raised funds to provide surgery for a dog that survived the explosion at the Saratoga Hotel.
