Children in Bayamo sleep outdoors due to power outages, trying to escape the heat.

The energy crisis in Cuba continues to leave shocking scenes, such as that of a family in Bayamo, including a minor, sleeping outdoors in a desperate attempt to escape the suffocating heat.

Isis Ro shared on Facebook images that show the ordeal of two people, including a small child, who, due to power outages, were forced to sleep outdoors on what seems to be the slab or patio of a house.

"Several children slept like this last night in Bayamo, and this is how they are sent to school today," noted the person who made the post on social media.

However outrageous it may seem, this scene has been repeated in various cities in Cuba, amidst an energy crisis that seems to have no end.

In May, a Cuban was captured at dawn while still asleep, after spending the night on a rooftop on what appears to be a mattress and covered by a mosquito net.

It is an ingenious initiative to be able to sleep amid the constant and unbearable blackouts that plague the population throughout the Island.

Others have chosen to sleep in the doorways and on the sidewalks to try to alleviate some of the heat they experience due to the blackouts.

Journalist Yosmany Mayeta Labrada stated on Facebook that many people in Santiago de Cuba sleep outdoors due to the constant power outages and high nighttime temperatures.

And while this is the reality of Cuban households, the Ministry of Education awarded the Ministry of Energy and Mines for its supposed contribution to the integral development of the country's children and adolescents, despite the complaints from Cuban parents about the damage the energy crisis causes to students.

The recognition took place during an event held at the Central Palace of Pioneers, commemorating the 45th anniversary of the institution, where the ministry was distinguished "for its contribution and support in the integral development of girls, boys, and adolescents in Cuba," states a publication on X from that department.
