Celina García Álvarez, who suffered from senile dementia and diabetes, was found deceased, according to family members who did not specify the location where the body was discovered.
“Unfortunately, we have already found Celina García Álvarez and sadly she has passed away. We thank all those who shared the post, you are a great family, a great brotherhood, thank you dear friends from my heart,” shared the internet user Irelis Rodríguez on her Facebook profile.
Celina, who lived in Santa Fe, Havana, was last seen wearing a housecoat with orange patterns and a pair of blue flip-flops.
The elderly woman left the house without taking her medication for diabetes, which heightened the concern of her family, who were desperate for any information about her whereabouts. The worsening of her illness during the time she was away from home may be one of the likely causes of her death.
This week, help was also requested on social media to locate an elderly man who has been missing in Havana since last Sunday.
The family is looking for any information that leads to the whereabouts of Miguel Ángel Sánchez Cepero, whom they call "Cachito."
