Cuban Yoan Moncada, a member of the national pre-selection heading to the Premier 12 Tournament, is close to returning to bat in Major League Baseball after several months out of the Chicago White Sox roster due to an injury.
Moncada has not played with the team since April 9, when he suffered a strain in the adductor and then experienced several ups and downs in his rehabilitation process, including a brief assignment to the minors that was interrupted in July due to increased pain related to the muscle issue.
According to specialized journalist Francys Romero on the social network Facebook, the player born in Cienfuegos will return to the team's roster this Monday ahead of the game against the Los Angeles Angels.
Romero reported that the member of the so-called "Team Asere" in the last World Classic was in 12 rehabilitation games in Triple-A, with positive numbers: a .341 batting average, one home run, and six runs batted in.
The third baseman has frequently dealt with injuries over the last four seasons, managing to play only 207 games. As a result, it is possible that he will play his last games, as it doesn’t seem the team will exercise its $25 million option for the upcoming season.
In his eight seasons with the White Sox, the infielder has 93 home runs, 339 RBIs, and an offensive line of .254/.332/.424, according to ESPN statistics.
