An elderly Cuban resident of Bayamo recovered his bicycle thanks to the active actions of the owners of the business where the vehicle was allegedly stolen.
The bicycle was returned thanks to the collaboration of a person who identified the thief and notified the authorities, according to a post in a local buy-sell group on Facebook.
Previously, the owners of the establishment had published a photo of the supposed criminal and asked the neighbors to inform them immediately if anyone recognized him in order to file a complaint.
Shortly after, in another post, they confirmed that the bicycle had been returned to its owner.
The store expressed its gratitude on social media "to those who helped locate the thief" and warned offenders that they will not tolerate theft.
"Anyone who tries to steal in our business will face consequences. We will not tolerate crime and we defend our community. A thief caught in our business will be punished, so that they learn to respect," they expressed.
This fact is part of the wave of violence that has been affecting Cuba for several years, and many of these incidents have been reported in stores selling rationed food.
A total of 48 robberies were committed in the warehouses of the province of Las Tunas during the first half of the year, primarily concentrated in the main territory and in the municipality of Puerto Padre, with a significant increase in the months of July and August, according to official reports.
Also this week, several young people from the Cienfuegos municipality of Cumanayagua were captured and accused of being part of a gang that robbed houses in the area.
